Cape Coastal Nursery was originally incorporated to service builders, and the professional  landscaper as there was no wholesale nursery on the Cape. However we realized that there was a desire in the market place for larger plant material and professional grade products for the Do-it-Your Self Customer  as well.

  DIY Indoors Out

SPRING 2012

Spring 2012 has been off to a wild start. Temperatures in late March and early April caused plants to start to break dormancy earlier than normal. Temperatures have since moderated and Spring is now in full swing. This may not affect your garden on Cape Cod but the hot weather down south may result in some plant shortages.

How can a late winter hot spell down south cause plant shortages you ask? Many trees must be dug before they break dormancy and most nurseries and garden centers in southern New England buy a good proportion of their trees from New Jersey and points South.

Trees breaking dormancy sooner means a shorter dig window at the tree farms and once plants start to flush with new growth many will not survive if they are dug at this time.

The very dry month of April may cause havoc later in the garden and with your lawn if we don't get more rainfall. Lawns and plants may require more irrigation unless we get some much needed rain.

We are your native plant source. Cape Coastal Nursery has an extensive collection of woody plants.

Bearberry, blueberry, beach plum, bay berry, winterberry, Eastern Red Cedar, White Pine, Tupleo, Red Maples and many more common and uncommon plants.

Cape Coastal Nursery specializes in Cape American Beach grass (Ammophila breviligulata). We provide dormant culms as well as 2" plugs. Please consider us for your next planting project.

We also have a large selection of native perennials and grasses in stock. Furthermore we deal with several growers who specialize in wetland plants and New England Natives. So if you don't see it, just ask and we will be happy to help source your needs.
